IIT Hyderabad hosts MOS-AK India 2019 International Conference on Modeling of Systems Circuits and Devices
Mr. Sebastien Hug, Consul General, Consulate of Switzerland, speaks about ‘India Switzerland Collaboration Avenues’.
Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad Electrical Engineering Department is hosting an International Conference ‘Modeling of Systems, Circuits and Devices’ (MOS-AK India 2019) being organised by a Joint Chapter of CAS/ED Societies, IEEE Hyderabad Section, a highly acclaimed international society of professional engineers.
The conference is being held from 25th to 27th February 2019. This conference is a joint collaborative research effort between MOS-AK, Switzerland, which is headed by Dr. Wladek Grabinski, General Co-Chair of the conference and India.
Addressing the inaugural session today (26th Feb 2019), Dr. Sebastien Hug, Consul General, Consulate of Switzerland, who was the Guest of Honor, said, “The mission of Swissnex is to connect the dots in education, research and innovation by bringing Indian context, facilitate collaboration, make connections and create visibility. Our focus areas are – deep tech, renewable energy, health tech and science 4 societies.”
Dr. Sebastein Hug, who is also CEO of Swissnex, a global network connecting education, research, and innovation, stressed on the promotion of public-private ventures between the two countries. Swissnex works closely with science and Technology counselors based in Swiss embassies across the world.
Highlighting the importance of such conferences, Mr. Surinder Singh, Director, Semi-Conductor Laboratory (SCL), a unit of Indian Space Research Organization mentioned that India is facing a major challenge in terms of electronic imports and the same can be dealt with indigenizing the electronic products.
The three-day long conference includes 13 keynote lecture by eminent speakers from countries such as the U.S., Austria, Switzerland, Poland, Brazil and Mexico, among others. Around 20 high quality papers were presented during the Conference, which saw over 150 delegates taking part in addition to stalls by reputed semiconductor firms.
Addressing the conference, Dr. Sushmee Badhulika, Organising Co-Chair of the conference and Associate Professor, Department of Electrical Engineering, IIT Hyderabad, said, “This is the first of its kind conference-cum-exhibition being held at IITH in the field of compact modeling of semiconductor devices. Though there is prominent presence of circuit design abilities in the industry and academia, the thrust on compact modeling needs improvement. The conference aims to spread awareness about this at State universities and other tier II engineering institutions, leading to skilled manpower and better employment avenues.”
Dr. P.A. Govindacharyulu, General Co-Chair, of the conference reiterated that forums such as this conference play a vital role in bringing the industry and academia together in order to achieve this national goal of self-reliance in the electronics sector.
Dr. Arif Sohel, Chair of IEEE CAS/ED Chapter of Hyderabad Section, mentioned that MOS-AK is organised regularly across the world but the last edition was organised in New Delhi in 2012 and after 9 years it is brought back to India by IEEE and hopes to continue this on a regular basis.
Dr. Asudeb Dutta, Associate Professor, IITH and member of organising committee said that an excellent technical program with four tutorial talks, Two plenary sessions, seven keynote talks and 22 research paper presentations, is available for the participants.
Dr. A.G. Krishna Kanth from ams semiconductors pvt. ltd. stated that the local semiconductor industry like ams, xiinx, sypnosys, Keysight, Rhode and Schwarz, SCL have come forward to sponsor this conference and is optimistica that this will further bridge the gap between Industry and Academia.
