Delhi-based PHD House today witnessed the testimony of NGO SAKSHI’s children to the river Ganges through a soulful act entitled ‘Namami Ganges’ at the Curtain Raiser of the Women Car Rally to be held by the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry at the end of this month, where SAKSHI is on-board as the NGO Partner because of their body of work towards women empowerment and this rally too, is a step towards women’s empowerment.
The girls of Girl Education Project from SAKSHI performed a dance performance choreographed and trained by Guru Rashmi Raut Jaiswal of the Natyakalp Institute of Performing Arts. Performance began with the Ganpati stuti to praise the lord and seek his blessing and then an ode to river Ganga for everything that it has given us and an apology for wrong doings of human race and degradation of environment. The performance is based on Clean Ganga — paying homage to the river.
SAKSHI NGO’s work under the presidency of Dr. Mridula Tandon, in the field of women empowerment is extensive and acknowledged by all in their field. Right from educating girls and providing them vocational skills to manning the women’s helpline number 181 and in partnership with Delhi commission for women, being advisory to Govt organizations on prevention of sexual harassment at the work place. SAKSHI is working towards the betterment of women life in all spheres.
The Curtain Raiser: PHD Chamber Women Car Rally 2018, was organized by PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry at the PHD House. As the year 2017 has been an epitome of women achievers, the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry are organizing this women-only Car Rally this year to highlight the women achievers and keep their spirits high. Fueling the fire in their bellies, the rally will be a two-day affair starting on March 30th from Delhi to Jaipur on March 30th; and the following day on March 31st, it will continue to Sambhar Salt lake (India’s largest inland salt water lake) and returning to Delhi. The event that is likely to become an annual event is being launched with this cultural evening here. During the program, aspiring drivers and the press were briefed about the challenges of this event that is expecting attention from regional, national and international press and participants.
The Rally will be flagged-off from Delhi, after formal documentation and scrutiny of the vehicles by a group of highly qualified technicians and rally marshals. The women-only rally will test them for time, speed, and distance (TSD) on non-cumulative basis.
Sports & Youth Affairs Committee at PHD Chamber has initiated this unique event since Sports is the best way to highlight the capabilities and skills of women in every other field and giving them an opportunity to race on the roads in a field full of their own kind will definitely boost their confidence and bring out their competitive spirit.
The official motto of this rally that commemorates the International Women’s Day is to recognize the selfless efforts of women from all occupations — women in corporate world, elite international & national businesswomen, women in the forces, women diplomats, leading women bureaucrats & government officials.
The Rally is primarily being organized to aid the Women empowerment causes – Women safety, Health, Reduce Infant Mortality, preventing child marriage, employment for Women, to promote ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ initiative; to spread Breast Cancer awareness through awareness campaigns en-route and to boost participation of Women in Motorsports.
Participation in the rally is kept affordable and easy, allowing men to assist women drivers as their navigators – if need be. The fees for participation is Rs. 20000 per team and the rally is to be a fun event as the route will include rallying through heritage sites, sand dunes, canals & lakes etc. with team-building activities en-route. Winners will be judged in two categories – professional and novice; with prize for first 5 positions that will include trophy and gifts.
