This is a golden opportunity for a budding healthcare entrepreneur who is passionate about improving the lives of billions by creating an impact at grass root levels.”

The Fellowship program provides a stipend of Rs. 50,000 per month during the first year of training, which includes deep clinical immersions in private and public hospitals and exposure to the healthcare industry. Dr Kousik Sarathy, one of the Biomedical Engineering Professors and Faculty advisors at the Center describes the program as one with an integrative view towards medical device innovation. “Gone are the days of frugal innovation. We are now looking at addressing healthcare problems at a global scale, designed and manufactured by Indians in India, for the world. This would need a comprehensive understanding of the compliance processes. The fellows undergo initiation into aspects of design and development frameworks embedded with compliance strategies. These combined with the advanced prototyping facilities and human resource at IITH presents a world of opportunities to the passionate technocrats from multifarious fields of study. A world-class healthcare innovation is bound to touch the lives of the billion and more at home”, said Dr. Sarathy.

The start-up companies that have graduated from CfHE Fellowship Program have already made waves in the MedTech space, in realizing their ideas and reaching commercialization. Mr. Habib Ali, CEO and CO founder of BeAble Health, a spin-off from the 1st batch of the fellowship program, said, “The design process thinking that the Fellowship program has inculcated in the team along with the clinical immersions made us believe that there is no disabled person, but only bad design and disabled technology. With the ArmAble device, we are looking at a gamified neurorehabilitation framework to treat patients with neurological and other motor deficits. CfHE has provided us with a well-rounded and broad perspective of healthcare innovation through support at various stages of development. The program and its many facets including design, development, and business, enabled with advisory support from industry experts, investors and serial entrepreneurs has truly helped in the smooth evolution of the product and our company as whole.”
