HCAS Faculty Development Programme

HCAS conducted a faculty development programme last Monday the 17th of this month. Mr. V. J. Pushpakumar of Indian Institute of Logistics was the faculty Dr. S. Thirumagan, the Principal, gave his welcome address. The faculty is experienced and dedicated person whom I’ve known for the past 10 years, he said. He has 150 staff and heads of five divisions in a company, he added and welcomed the Deputy Director of academics, Dr. VJ Philips, the guest speaker.

While introducing the speaker, Mr. Sukumar, GM of Indian Institute of Logistics mentioned about Mr. Pushpakumar’s military background and his training in naval fields and places he had visited. He is a member of board of studies of many universities in this field and is good in courses as FDPs and had numerous feathers to his credit.

In his lecture to faculty, Mr. Pushpakumar made it an interactive session and asked what is the meaning of development and why should people needs a development? He cited many positive aspects as caring for students, caring for colleagues, not angering anyone etc. The importance of class room communication apart from imparting knowledge good relationship with HOD in class room management and others is one of the key role in development, he said.

 

And as he read out article 51 A of constitution, he said, nuances of the same and exhorted everyone in caring about welfare of others in building long term relationships like listening, patience and softness in communication to fellow teachers and students plays a very great part. Importance of not blaming anyone and especially colleagues HODs and students in academic setting as it is important for a good working relationship Mr. Pushpakumar said as he ended.
