HITS Signed a MoU with AJ School of Excellence

Hindustan Institute of Technology and Science has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with AJ School of Excellence at the institution’s premises. Mr. PC. Sreeram, Ace

Cinematographer, the investigative journalist, Mr. Nakheeran Gopal, Investigative Journalist and the Film Director, Mr. Meera Kathiravan, had witnessed the signing last April 3, Wednesday.

Dr. Pon Ramalingam, the Registrar of HITS welcomed the gathering with a formal note and gave an introduction on the various courses which are going to be part of the MoU. HITS is floating with Certificate, Advanced Certificate, Diploma and Advanced Diploma courses in Photography and the course is designed along with the professional guidelines prescribed by the AJ School of Excellence.

The programmes are aimed to provide professional knowledge on photography to the students of Visual Communication and also to the non-major students who are interested in photography especially from Architecture and Fashion Designing disciplines. HITS is one of the most sought after engineering Institutions in Tamil Nadu, reputed for its highly qualified and experienced faculty and excellent infrastructural facilities for curricular and extracurricular activities. The University has maintained an enviable academic excellence right from its inception.

The presidential address was given by the dean-Academics, Dr. N. Vasudevan who highlighted the technological advancements in photography and significance of learning photography. He has also given a glimpse of what the MoU is all about and how it is going to impact the student fraternity. While the Director of AJ School of Excellence, Dr. Ajmal Dastagir explained the structure of the programme by emphasizing the proposed direct interactions of the students with the industry professionals. He deeply appreciated the infrastructure of HITS and cited it as the reason for choosing HITS as the partner for this MoU.

The film director, Mr. Meera Kathiravan has explained the medium of cinema as an art form and how the art of photography sensitizes the approach towards cinema for any viewer. The veteran investigative journalist, editor and publisher of Nakkheeran, the political investigative magazine has congratulated the new venture and talked about how the pictures have contributed to the investigative news stories in various instances. He narrated with his encounter with various legal cases and how the photographs have contributed to procure justice. The renowned Cinematographer, Mr. PC. Sreeram promised his support to train the students of HITS in Cinematography. He encouraged the students to read a lot of books which would reflect in unique angles and perception while composing a photograph. He stressed that memory loss is the danger to the society and encouraged the students to print images to live in that reality, though the technological advancements promise an alternative of e-archiving.

The event has come to an end with the official thanks from Mr. D. Vijayabhaskar, Assistant Professor of the Department of Visual Communication.
