Dark clouds of distress spread their wings and create panic in our minds. But such worries will not stay long for a helping hand may always be ready to rescue. This turned true for the fisherman stranded in the mid sea.

The credit for that goes to Indian Coast Guard. The organisation rescued an Indian fishing boat in distress in Palk Bay in a daring and timely executed mission on 14 July.

Indian Coast Guard Ship Ameya (ICGS Ameya) while patrolling at Palk Bay received a distress call at 8:18 am on 14 July  from a boat named IFB Kulandhai Yeshu with four crew onboard.

The boat had reported flooding onboard and any delay in arresting the flooding could have caused the boat to sink and loss of lives.

ICGS Ameya moved with full speed to the position. Coast Guard personnel undertook deflooding and finally controlled the cause that caused it 10.00 am. The fishing boat was thereafter safely towed under the escort of ICGS Ameya upto Mandapam.
