On Tuesday, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is expected to inform the Supreme Court about its decision on conducting the remaining Class 10 and Class 12 board exams, said the officials.

Last week, the CBSE board informed the court that it will soon take a decision, after a plea was requested by a group of parents who wanted to cancel the happening of the pending exams from July 1 to 15. They also insisted that students should be allotted marks based on their internal assessment or practical exams.

The Maharashtra, Delhi and Odisha governments have also made a similar request to the Human Resource Development Ministry. A senior CBSE official said, “The decision will be informed to the court on Tuesday and an official notification will accordingly be issued as per directions of the top court.”

In their plea, the parents have noted that there is a chance where students can get exposed to COVID-19 infection if they appear for exams during this period of rapid spread.

They have also mentioned that due to the pandemic, the board has cancelled the examinations of Class 10 and 12 for its schools abroad (approximately 250 schools) and concluded to give grades based on their internal assessment or practical exams.
