The bias still exists, battles are yet to be won

The elimination of Section 377 for consentual sexual act between same sex has been hailed. This has earned a praise from many quarters, but what needs to be seen is the bias that exists towards those who involve in consentual sexual act with the same sex.

People need to understand that gay pride was not born of a need to celebrate being gay but their right to exist without persecution. They have come a long way, But the question arises, why being a homosexual or being a part of the LGBTQ community is still a taboo?

 agree with someone’s gender identity but really one is isnt being heroic for standing up for your stereotypical beliefs.
You might not like Messi but that doesn’t mean you tell every person in that area that they are wrong and spread abomination about football. It’s the same idea. You may not agree with it, but if you could put the extremely minimal effort into respecting people which makes them feel great , doesn’t cost you anything.

In a recent research by the HRC, 4 in 10 of the LGBTQ youth say the community in which they live does not accept them totally, 26 percent of them  say their biggest problems are not being accepted by their family, bullying by their own peer and a fear of being open.

Although the media coverage for the verdict might help people understand that homosexuality is normal, still things are not normal in some backward areas, where talking about it is still a crime.

In a recent interview, a 14 year old boy of a small village, after confessing his sexuality to one of his friend was totally neglected and was kept isolated since then. Till date people are being killed everyday or end up killing themselves for just being themselves.

For the developing world as a whole both laws and attitude should change for better. The only hope is that one day the world will be a better place where beliefs are not just acknowledged but accepted as well.
