Amity University Madhya Pradesh organised an informative session on “Traffic rules and Management”, on January 16, 2020; under the Road Safety Week to raise public awareness about traffic rules and ultimately reduce casualties due to road accidents, with the aim of making people aware of the perils of not following traffic rules and the emotional and financial trauma that it could bring to their families.

It was conducted by the Superintendent of Gwalior police, Mr. Navneet Bhasin and Assistant Director General of Traffic rules and Management, Mr. Pankaj Pandey.

During the session, students were sensitized about the methods and necessities of road safety, they were made to understand the use of helmets or seat belts and were informed about the importance of following the basic road safety rules and regulations.

According to them, 1.51 lakh people lose their lives every year in our country in road accidents and many more are debilitated. This causes immense economic hardship and emotional trauma to their families.

These are mainly attributed to behavioural tendencies such as habitual flouting of traffic rules like not wearing a helmet, not wearing seat belts, jumping traffic lights, over speeding, drunken driving etc.

The session was made interactive with various videos and lecture.  It thus, incorporated the need to make our roads safer as the loss of lives and limbs cannot be accepted at the price of mobility.
