What is the best gift we can give to our future generations? An atmosphere filled with greenery and free of pollution. Tree plantation will give greenery in our surroundings and keep the environment strong, says Dr Viswanathan, veteran doctor.

We should become friends with trees, environment. His message reiterated loud and clear when tree plantation was held on M V Hospital for Diabetes premises recently.
Let us all take on ourselves the responsibility to give care to trees, plants around us.
I have planted saplings in and around the hospital premises and spend Rs 20,000 every month in providing care to them. Senior environmentalist and manager of NGO Sankalp Taru C Vajiravelu said we have lost lot of trees to natural disasters in the recent past.
While much of it is yet to be compensated, it is to remind ourselves that more trees are planted. This will keep heatwave down, reduce pollution and also helps reducing water shortage, he says.
Essaying importance of trees Fatheraj Jain, secretary, Exnora International (north Chennai) says we have been visiting schools to generate awareness among students there about value of tree life. We have planted about 35,000 trees in the last one to two years, and, this number has to go up, he says.
If every citizen of this country plants four to five trees on his own, the amount of greenery will go up significantly only to benefit the enviroment, he says. Various officials of the hospital were also present.
