Sevalaya Hosted A Chain Of Events For International Women’s Day

The International Women’s Day was celebrated in Sevalaya from 8th to the 10th of March in all its 8 centres across Tamilnadu and Puduchery. Women were the host of the event in its campus in Tiruninravur and Tiruvallore district. And the Chief Guest to the function is Mrs. Samina Mohamed, the Associated Vice-President of Donnelley, said that women are embodiment of qualities of patience and their contributions to the nation are immense.

Mrs. Mani Moorthy, said in her brief note, that Women’s day is celebrated to emphasis their equality and to assert their legitimate rights. She praised Sevalaya’s efforts in providing opportunities to foster women and various initiatives taken to benefit them and in the midst of a loud applause from the large audience, she said that she is pleased to note that majority of staff are women in Sevalaya, which itself is a matter of delight and gave an acknowledgement to the mentors of the girl who got the high marks in the board exams.

Mr. Raja Sridhar, Managing Director, Technocraft Pvt. Ltd., observed that women always excel in skills. Sevalaya provides opportunities for women to train them on specific skill courses that are lucrative. While

Mr. Muralidharan, Founder and Managing Trustee, in his special address in the function, catalogued various initiatives taken by Sevalaya right from the inception. By its constant stride and approach, Sevalaya could provide free education to the girl children, thereby succefully prevented them by going to small jobs like brick kiln labour, domestic help for paltry, petty gains for their families.

Now in Sevalaya, more than 50 percent are girl students  who are benefited and the teaching staff are also women in large number. He said further that women-specific skill courses are offered in Sevalaya, viz. tailoring, computer skills, e- publishing, tally, and beautician’s courses in its Community Colleges.

Ms. Vijaya, Head Mistress, Academics, proposed vote of thanks. Earlier, 200 women performed Yoga, to mark the day.
