Hemp is a green plant with long; blade-like leaves that each have many teeth on each side .it’s stalk and seeds can be used to make paper, clothing, sweeteners, packaging material, and construction material.

It just can’t get a person “high”. By 2016, the industry based on this multi-tool plant was worth roughly $700 billion.

Marijuana and hemp are siblings, both species of Cannabis Sativa. The part of marijuana that causes euphoria or a floating feeling is THC, tetrahydrocannabinol.

In short, hemp doesn’t have any significant amount of THC, only roughly 0.3 percent, not enough to cause a high. Instead, it consists of several components that are very useful commercially.

What Is Hemp?

Marijuana is nicknamed “weed”, and it’s long leaves are the heart of the plant and how it is valuable because of its seed and its stalk. The outer part of the seed is called the cake, and it’s fibrous and starchy. The cake is now being used more and more as cattle feed.

From the seed is extracted oil, which like many oils, has a variety of uses, not only for fuel but in an array of products such as Varnishes, paints, and inks. Below, we’ll discuss CBD oil, which is very trendy now, and one reason for the growth of the hemp industry.

The fashion industry is dragging its feet in its sustainability efforts, according to Boston Consulting Group’s (BCG) latest pulse of the fashion Industry update 2019, produced in partnership with the Global Fashion Agenda and Sustainable Apparel Coalition.

The study tracks the fashion industry’s progress in environmental and social responsibility using a pulse score, which only rose four points in 2019, having advanced six points the previous year.

“The pace of sustainability progress in the fashion industry has slowed by a third in the past year and is not moving fast enough to counterbalance the harmful impact of the fashion industry’s rapid growth,” the report states.

I expect we will see more hemp fashion entering the mainstream and none too soon. Hemp may be one way the fashion industry can save the world and itself.
