When it comes to Bollywood, other than the actors or the script what attracts us the most is the backdrop or the location where a scene was shot. Often the backdrop is what stays in our memory that can be cherished forever. And Bollywood does an incredible job in introducing the audience to exotic places in India. Let it be the snowy mountain of Manali from Yeh Jawani hai Dewaani or the Agora Fort in Goa from Dil Chahta hai, we all wanted to be there, in the exact same location. Also, Bollywood plays a significant role in contributing to the Indian tourism industry, tempting us to plan a trip to these exotic locations.

Wai, Maharastra

Swades, the all-time favorite patriotic film that gave us some incredible songs like Yuhi Chala Chal was shot in a village of Wai, a four-hour drive from Mumbai. Because of its ambiguous look, it is often used to represent some other in another part of the country. In Swadesh, it was the village of Charanpur in Utter Pradesh, and in Dabangg, it was named Laalgang in Utter Pradesh. Due to its scenic and flexible location, Wai is one of the best Bollywood locations one must visit, and apart from that it offers a good experience of trekking and exploring all in one trip.

Shillong, Meghalaya

The northeast the most underrated place among the tourist. This region of India is exceptionally alluring and beautiful, filled with hordes of places worth visiting. The glimpse of places like Shillong, Gangtok, and Tawang has been showcased in Bollywood movies like Rock On 2 and Rangoon. “I wanted to do a film in the North-East. There are North-Eastern students in various parts of India being beaten up and called outsiders. This film is a small attempt to bring the region into popular culture. I’m glad we shot in Shillong. Every person felt a sense of loss when we finished shooting. We’d all love to go back”.—Producer Farhan Akhtar on the decision to make the film in Northeast India.

Kalatop, Dalhousie

O’Henry’s adaption of the last leaf, Lootera was not a box office hit but surely gave us a new travel destination for our next vacation. Few scenes were shot in the Kalatop region of Dalhousie in the pristine Himachal Pradesh and apart from that it also ushers the lesser-known side of West Bengal. The snowy region of Dalhousie makes it one of the best places to visit during the winter.

Athirappilly Falls, Kerela

The awe-inspiring waterfall scene from Babuballi was shot in the most famous waterfalls of Kerala, Athirappilly Falls also known as the Niagara of India. And also the scenic visuals of Raavan starring Abhishek Bacchan and Aishwarya Rai were shot in the forest around the Athirappilly falls. The is the best place to visit for a one-day trip with your friends.

Gulmarg, Kashmir

 Kashmir has featured in many Bollywood films like Rockstar, Highway, Haider, Fitoor, etc. The immense natural beauty, delightful weather, and the culture and traditions of Gulmarg showcased in the flick, inadvertently entice one to visit the Paradise of Earth

Aru Valley, Pahalgam

Another location in Kashmir, Aru Valley in Pahalgam offers the most scenic route for a road trip.  The Highway is an amazing movie featuring some truly amazing scenes from all over the country and some of the most bewitching sights found in it are surely those of Ar Valley close to Pahalgam in Kashmir.

Mall Road, Shimla

Bollywood and its obsession with romance introduce us to charming and mesmerizing towns, adding them to the travel list and, one of them is Shimla. From old CD and cassette stores to modernized complexes Mall Road in Shimla is a must-visit location. Movies such as Jab We Met, Bang Bang, and 3 idiots have glorified the road to the extreme degree.

Pangong Lake, Ladakh

 Obviously, all the travel enthusiasts remember the last scene from 3 idiots when Fahran and Raju along with Priya meet Rancho. This scene was shot near Pangong Lake in Ladakh. The beauty of this lake and the surrounding bank is bound to leave you utterly mesmerized, and nostalgic that you have to add this place to your travel list.

Doraha Fort, Ludhiana

Rang de Basanti sure did give us an unforgettable story and groovy music, but along with that it also introduced us to the beauty of Doraha Fort in Ludhiana. Popularly known as the RDB fort, people have climbed to be a perfect place for clicking photographs and a favorite getaway to chill. One of the beautiful scenes of Rang De Basanti where all the friends run in the field and jump as the Air Force jets fly above them has attracted the tourist to this Fort.

Munnar, Kerela

Kerela once known only for its backwards is now famous for the pristine beauty of Munnar Tea Plantations. Movie-like Chennai Expres and Nishabd is the reason why Munnar should be on your travel list. The beautiful sight of the tea plantation and pleasant climate will trick you into believing that you are a part of the shooting.

These aesthetically pleasing scenes from the movie, make us be a part of it and Bollywood offers the audience such location that makes us dream about visiting these places.
