SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST) experimented with flavours recently to mark International Chefs Day.

The celebration became special as Spanish chef Antonio Garcia De Q Sanchez taught the students of SRMIST on how to cook ‘Paella,’ the traditional dish of Spain. Antonio is the executive sous chef of The Diplomatic Club in Doha, Qatar.

Students got more lessons through conferences, workshops and live demonstrations. The theme for the celebration was ‘How healthy food works?’ A panel discussion on ‘consider food as medicine rather than medicine as food’ was held to signify the theme.

Students took pledge to tranform India by 2022 into a healthy nation which took the theme of the event to further heights.

Celebrity chef Damu said the students must make use of events like these and learn lessons that would be useful for their career. The event was organised by SRM Institute of Hotel Management in association with South India Chefs Association. Pro vice chancellor of SRMIST T P Ganesan was among those present.
