IIT Hyderabad all set for Phase I of Placements for 2019-20 Academic Year

Students have already received Pre-Placement Offers from prominent multinational firms such as Microsoft, D.E Shaw, Goldman Sachs, Arcesium, Arista and Amazon.

Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad is all set for Phase I of the Campus Placements for Academic Year 2019. The Phase I of Campus Placements will begin on 1st December 2019 and will be held till 20th December 2019. The Phase II of Placements will be held from January 2020 to end of the Academic Year. A total of 476 students have registered for Campus Placements 2019-20.

The Placements have gone on to a strong start as the number of Pre-Placement Offers (PPOs) have nearly doubled from last year’s 19 to 37 as on 30th October 2019. This also includes Two International Offers. Most of the offers have come from Information Technology and Information Technology-Enabled Services (IT/ITES). Most of the PPOs that have come so far are for undergraduate students.

Speaking about the efforts of the Institute on Campus Placements, Dr. Pradeep Kumar Yemula, Faculty In-Charge (Placements), IIT Hyderabad, said,“The placement process at IIT Hyderabad is a student-lead activity, and thanks to their efforts in last six months, the Institute is gaining in strength each year in terms of quantity and quality of placements.

As our institute is more than a decade old, we have built a reasonable alumni base who are supporting the Institute. The fact that we have almost doubled the number of PPOs this year shows encouraging outlook for the upcoming placement season.”

IIT Hyderabad Students have already got offers from prominent companies such as American multinational technology firm Microsoft Corporation, global investment and technology development firm D.E.Shaw, multinational investment bank Goldman Sachs Group, multinational firm Amazon, Technology Firm Arcesium and computer networking company Arista Networks, among others. 

Internships

The Placement Office at IIT Hyderabad has started phase-wise Internship recruitment drive from 2019-20 Academic year. The Phase-I of internships will be held in ‘FastTrack’ mode during October (During mid-semester break) with Phase-II starting during January.

The Phase-I Internship Program 2019-20 resulted in 86 offers from 25 companies as of 30th October 2019. This included six International offers. The Institute Placement Office is expecting further offers as the Phase-II process of Internship will begin in January 2020 and will continue up to April 2020.

Further, Dr. Pradeep Kumar Yemula said, “By the end of the last Academic Year (2018-19), the Institute had 89 internship offers from 25 companies, while this year we had matched the previous year’s record in Phase-I  itself. We are hoping for more offers in first half of 2020.”
