AFA witnesses change of guard

The commencement of July month witnessed a change in Chennai on the defence front. Air Commodore D S Dagar took over the command of Air Force Station at Avadi in Chennai on July 1.

Prior to taking over the command of the this station, the Air Officer held the post of Air Commodore, Air Veterans at DAV (Air Head Quarters), New Delhi.  

He replaced Air Commodore J Rajendra. A grand parade was held to mark the occasion. Air Commodore DS Dagar was commissioned into the Indian Air Force on 7 June 1986. He is a graduate in Law and Science from Delhi University. 

Sources from the Defence Ministry say the Air Officer has held many appointments at senior level which include  tenures as Chief Administrative Officer of a premier Air Force Station, Director Personnel Airmen at Air Headquarters and an important assignment as a member of the Air Force Pay Commission Cell at the Directorate of Finance at Air Headquarters (Vayu Bhawan).

The Air Officer has been commended by Air Officer Commanding-in- Chief in 2005 and by the Chief of the  Air Staff in 2007 for his exceptional performance as an officer in the Administrative branch of the Indian Air Force.
