Post graduate Diabetology course in Stanley Medical College

The Institute of Diabetology, Government Stanley Medical College has instituted a Gold Medal Oration in honour of the late Prof. M. Viswanathan, a doyen in the field of diabetes in India. Today the first oration was conferred upon Prof. Isaac Christian Moses, Medical Director of Sri Ramakrishna Hospital, Coimbatore and former Dean of Stanley Medical College.
Dr.S.Ponnamabala Namasivayam, Dean of the college inaugurated and presided over the function. He spoke about the proposed introduction of postgraduate course in Diabetology in Stanley Medical College from the coming academic year and the proposed facility of providing ‘Continuous Glucose Monitoring’ for our type 1 diabetes patients.
Dr. Isaac Christian Moses gave his oration on the detection and management of the twin challenges of diabetes and hypertension which are rising in alarming proportions throughout the world.
Prof. V. Seshiah, legendary Diabetologist who was the Chief Guest, recollected his memories with late Prof. M. Viswanathan and spoke on the importance of diabetes care during pregnancy.
Dr. V. Mohan, eminent diabetologist spoke about his association with Stanley Medical College and offered collaboration from his institute with government Stanley Hospital for medical research and genetic studies, free of cost.
Prof. D. Shantharam, former Vice-Chancellor of the Tamilnadu Dr. MGR Medical University and the first Director of the Institute of Diabetology, Stanley Medical College, delivered the key-note address.
Dr. A. Shanmugam, Head of the Institute of Diabetology organized the event.
Vive-Principal Dr.Selvi, Deputy Superintendent Dr. Dhanasekaran, RMO Dr. Ramesh and other dignitaries graced the occasion.
