Navjot Singh Sidhu appointed Punjab Congress president

In the context of the widening conflict within the Punjab Congress and restoration of days of speculation, the Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee was appointed Sunday by former Minister Navjot Sing./h Sidhu as head.
Four working presidents of the Punjab unit — Sangat Singh Gilzian, Sukhwinder Singh Danny, Pawan Goel, and Kuljit Singh Nagra — were also selected by Congress.
Earlier on Sunday, Sidhu landed in Patiala, the home electoral district of Chief Minister Amarinder Singh, to meet with MLAs and to secure support for their upliftment. Sidhu met Shutrana MLA Nirmal Singh Shutrana and then proceeded with many MLAs to the residence of Ghanaur MLA Madan Lal Jalalpur. Minister of Cabinet Sukhjinder Singh had already been present at the home of Jalalpur.
Sidhu and his staff have been accommodated by Jalapur, which is believed to be close to Patiala MP and Preneet Kaur, Amarinder’s wife. The media told Jalalpur, “That Sidhu would visit me I had a call from Randhawa. For him, I’ve organised tea.”
The camp of Sidhu also published photos of at least 30 MLAs he met on Saturday. Sidhu’s assistant remarked, “The number is rising.”
In the meantime, 11 MLAs appealed to the High Command of the Party to stop letting down President Amarinder Singh on Sunday, whom they dubbed “the highest leader of people.”
On the day that Sidhu conducted a series of meetings with the Punjab Congress president Sunil Jakhar and several MEPs, including the CM supporters, Bajwa, a vociferous critical of the chief minister, summoned Amarinder Singh at his house. The President, Rana P. Singh and Rana Gurmit Singh Sodhi met the Chief Minister, along with Rajya Sabha Member, Bajwa.
