Take complete control of sexual health

Sexual health, sex life are a things of privacy for many, talking about them is a matter not everyone among us would like to do. But health experts feel these perceptions must undergo a change and it should be for better.
Dr George Krucik, a family medicine doctor in California and Chief Technology Officer of iTreat MD is one among them. We should not be afraid to take control of our sexual health and safety.
This will keep us away from sexually transmitted diseases and help in sustaining our sexual life, he says. But for this to happen we must know more about sexual health. Know it so that you can take full control over it, say experts.
This is the say of sexual health experts, but a look into the reality will perhaps prove again how right the words of our sex health specialists are.
According to a survey by World Health Organisation (WHO) more than one million sexually transmitted infections (STIs)are acquired everyday worldwide. Each year, there are estimated 357 million new infections and one of them are STIs namely Chlamydia, Gonorrhea, Syphilis and
trichomoniasis.
If that is not enough, another 500 million people are said to be suffering from genital infections with herpes simplex virus (HSV). The majority of STIs have no symptoms or only a mild symptoms that may not be recognized as an STI and HSV type 2 and Syphilis can increase the risk of HIV acquisition.
Bad things don’t end there, the diseases of improper sex can even deal a deathblow to one’s reproductive ability. Some STIs can spread through non-sexual means such as via blood or blood products, says surveys by Global Health Strategy on STIs (2016-2021).
But there is a ray of hope too, taking certain precautions can help us stay away from the problems created by sexually transmitted infections. Most popular of it is staying loyal to single partner. More partners, more chances of getting infections.
Communicate with your partner about the problems, infections and need to undergo medical checkups frequently. Abstinence in activity can also help, it is better to wait until one is prepared physically and psychologically.
Using condoms can prevent transfer of infections through sexual contact, though they may not completely do away the risk. Ensuring usage of condoms of high quality will also help. Washing the private parts after the sexual activity with plain water does a lot of good.
