About 60 special trains to be run for the celebration time
Southern Railway has geared up to handle the festival demand by planning to operate 60 special fare special trains during December. The advance reservation for these special trains has already begun on 14 October.

This December will be a time everyone would be travelling, thanks to the festival spirit of the month. While this would create a good demand for train tickets, happy news is that Southern Railway has already geared up to handle the festival demand by planning to operate 60 special fare special trains during December. The advance reservation for these special trains has already begun on 14 October.
According to sources from Southern Railway, special trains are listed below:
1. Train No.06011/06012 Chennai – Sengottai – Chennai Express Trains Â
With a composition of one first AC coach, one AC two tier coach, two AC three tier coaches, eight sleeper class coaches, three general second class coaches and two luggage cum brake vans, Train No. 06011 Chennai Egmore – Sengottai Express will leave Chennai Egmore at 8.40 pm on 3,10,17 and 24 December to reach Sengottai at 9.50 am the next day. In the return direction, Train No.06012 Sengottai – Chennai Egmore Express will leave Sengottai at 4.15 pm on 4,11 and 18 December to reach Chennai Egmore at 5.45 am the next day.
Tambaram, Chengalpattu, Melmaruvathur, Villupuram, Vridhachalam, Tiruchchirappalli, Pudukkottai, Chettinad, Karaikkudi, Devakottai Road, Sivaganga, Manamadurai, Aruppukkottai, Virudhunagar, Tiruttangal, Sivakasi, Srivilliputtur, Rajapalayam, Sankarankovil, Pambankovil Shandy, Kadayanallur and Tenkasi. Train No.06012 will have stoppage at Mambalam also.
2. Train No.06001/06002 Chennai – Tirunelveli – ChennaiÂ
Express Trains
With a composition of one AC two tier coach, two AC three tier coaches, 12 sleeper class coaches and two luggage cum brake vans, Train No.06001 Chennai Egmore – Tirunelveli Express Train will leave Chennai Egmore at 10.15 pm on 14 and 28 December to reach Tirunelveli at 10.30 am the next day.Â
In the return direction, Train No.06002 Tirunelveli – Chennai Egmore Express will leave Tirunelveli at 3.00 pm on 9 and 16 December to reach Chennai Egmore at 3.30 pm the next day. Tambaram, Chengalpattu, Villupuram, Vridhachalam, Tiruchchirappalli, Dindigul, Madurai, Virudhunagar, Satur, and Kovilpatti. Train No.06002 will stoppage at Mambalam also.

3. Train No.06027/06028 Tambaram – Kollam – Tambaram Express Trains
With a composition of two AC two tier coaches, seven sleeper class coaches, three general second class coaches and two luggage cum brake vans, Train No.06027 Tambaram – Kollam Express Train will leave Tambaram at 5.15 pm on 3,5,10,12,14,17,19,26,28 and 31 December to reach Kollam at 10.30 am the next day.
In the return direction, Train No.06028 Kollam – Tambaram Special Fare Special train will leave Kollam at 11.30 am on 4,6,8,11,13,15,18,20 and 27 December to reach Tambaram at 3.30 am the next day. Chengalpattu, Villupuram, Vridhachalam, Tiruchchirappalli, Dindigul, Madurai, Virudhunagar, Tiruttangal, Sivakasi, Srivilliputtur, Rajapalayam, Sankarankovil, Pamban Kovil Shandy, Kadayanallur, Tenkasi, Sengottai, Bhagavathipuram, Aryankavu, Tenmalai, Edaman, Punalur, Avaneeswaram, Kottarakara, and Kundara are the stoppages for these trains.
4. Train No.06007/06008 Chennai – Nagercoil – Chennai Express Trains
With a composition of one first AC coach, two AC three tier coaches, nine sleeper class coaches, six general second class coaches and two luggage cum brake vans, Train No.06007 Chennai Central – Nagercoil Express Train will leave Chennai Central at 7.00 am on 4,11,18 and 25 December to reach Nagercoil at 11.05 am the next day.Â
In the return direction, Train No.06008 Nagercoil – Chennai Express Train will leave Nagercoil at 5.00 pm on 5,12,19 and 26 December to reach Chennai Egmore at 7.20 am the next day.Â
The Trains will have stoppages at Arakkonam, Katpadi, Jolarpettai, Salem, Namakkal, Karur, Dindigul, Madurai, Virudhunagar, Satur, Kovilpatti, Tirunelveli and Valliyur. Train No.06008 will have stoppage at Perambur also.
5. Train No.06051 Chennai – Ahmedabad Express Trains
With a composition of two AC three tier coaches, 10 sleeper class coaches, two general second class coaches and two luggage cum brake vans, Train No.06051 Chennai Central – Ahmedabad Express Train will leave Chennai Central at 8.10 pm on 1,8,15,22 and 29 December to reach Ahmedabad at 5.45 am on Mondays.
The Trains will have stoppages at Arakkonam, Renigunta, Koduru, Razampeta, Cuddapah, Yerraguntla, Tadipatri, Gooty, Adoni, Mantralayam Road, Raichur, Yadgir, Wadi, Solapur, Daund, Pune, Lonavala, Kalyan, Vasai Road, Boisar, Vapi, Surat, Vadodara, Anand and Nadiad.
6. Train No.06058 Chennai – Santragachi Express Trains
With a composition of two AC three tier coaches, 10 sleeper class coaches, two general second class coaches and two luggage cum brake vans, Train No.06058 Chennai Central – Santragachi Express Train will leave Chennai Central at 3.15 pm on Wednesdays 5,12,19 and 26 December to reach Santragachi at 7.00 pm on Thursdays.Â
Gudur, Nellore, Ongole, Vijayawada, Eluru, Rajamundry, Samalkot, Anakapalle, Duvvada, Vizianagaram, Palasa, Brahmapur, Khurda Road, Bhubaneswar, Barang, Bhadrak, Balasore and Kharagpur are the stoppages for these trains.Â
7. Train No.06010 Puducherry – Santragachi Express Trains
With a composition of one AC two tier coach, one AC three tier coach, seven sleeper class coaches, six general second class coaches and two luggage cum brake vans, Train No.06010 Puducherry – Santragachi Express Train will leave Puducherry at 6.45 pm on 1,8,15 and 22 December to reach Santragachi at 4.30 am on Mondays.Â
Villupuram, Chengalpattu, Tambaram, Chennai Egmore, Sullurupetta, Nayudupeta, Gudur, Nellore, Ongole, Chirala, Vijayawada, Eluru, Tadepalliguem, Rajamundry, Samalkot, Duvvada, Vizianagaram, Palasa, Brahmapur, Khurda Road, Bhubaneswar, Barang, Jajpur K Road, Bhadrak, Balasore and Kharagpur are the stoppages for these trains.
8. Train No.07118 Ernakulam – Hyderabad Express Trains
With a composition of one AC two tier coach, one AC three tier coach, 18 sleeper class coaches and two luggage cum brake vans, Train No.07118 Ernakulam – Hyderabad Express Train will leave Ernakulam at 9.30 pm on 6,13,20 and 27 December to reach Hyderabad at 10.55 pm on Fridays.
Aluva, Thrissur, Ottapalam, Palghat, Coimbatore, Tiruppur, Erode, Salem, Jolarpettai, Katpadi, Chittoor, Tirupati, Renigunta, Gudur, Nellore, Ongole, Tenali, Guntur, Piduguralla, Nalgonda and Secunderabad are the stoppages for these trains.Â
9. Train No.07116 Kochuveli – Hyderabad Express Trains
With a composition of one AC two tier coach, one AC three tier coach, 18 sleeper class coaches and two luggage cum brake vans, Train No.07116 Kochuveli – Hyderabad Express Train will leave Kochuveli at 7.45 am on 3,10,17,24 and 31 December to reach Hyderabad at 2.00 pm on Tuesdays.
Kollam, Kayankulam, Chengannur, Tiruvalla, Ernakulam Town, Aluva, Thrissur, Ottapalam, Palghat, Coimbatore, Tiruppur, Erode, Salem, Jolarpettai, Vaniyambadi, Ambur, Katpadi, Chittoor, Tirupati, Renigunta, Gudur, Nellore, Ongole, Tenali, Guntur, Piduguralla, Nalgonda and Secunderabad are the stoppages for these trains.Â
