Director of Munoth Industries Ltd Jaswant Munoth is now a part of Expert Review Committee (ERC) of Centre of Excellence on Rechargeable Battery Technology.
Sources say Centre of Excellence is a unit being setup by C-MET in Pune under the direction of Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY).
The ERC has eight members and is chaired by Professor V K Aatre who is former scientific advisor to the Defence Minister. Mr. Munoth is said to be the only representative from the private sector.
Centre of Excellence is focusing on design of battery manufacturing machinery of Li-on and Na-ion batteries and transfer of end-to-end indegenous technology for cell manufacturing in India, according to sources.
The other members of ERC are K. Balasubramanian, director, NFTDC, Shantanu Das, scientist, BARC (Mumbai), Ajit R. Kulkarni of Department of Metallurgical Engineering and Material Science of IIT Mumbai, Rajiv Jain, senior advisor, IESA, Sandip Chatterjee, scientist and director of MeitY and Sanka Dip Das, scientist, MeitY.
The ERC will review the technical and financial progress and take it from initiation to completion and achieving of specific output leading to useful outcome in accordance with project objectives.
