NGO Sevalaya distributes relief worth Rs 2 crore

July 6:The times are indeed tough now, however they have not stopped the well-known service organization Sevalaya from achieving what it wants.

Amidst when there is a difficulty due to COVID-19 situation and people are finding it difficult to even move out of their homes, Sevalaya and its team distributed relief material to the deserving.

Relief distribution was worth Rs 2 crore during the lockdown.

Sevalaya runs various services for the underprivileged sections of the society. It runs an orphanage at Kasuva village near Thiruninravur located about 40 kilometers away from Chennai.

It also runs a free school for the children of the orphanage. The NGO runs a free medical center, a free library, and a cow protection shelter (Go-Shala) and a senior citizen home for destitute elderly persons.

The community kitchen of Sevalaya had distributed more than 65,000 food packets.

About 600 PPE kits were donated to Government hospitals in four districts of Thiruvallur, Kanchipuram, Trichy, and Thanjavur.

Sources further said about 6,700 grocery kits were distributed in six districts of Tamil Nadu and Pune. The NGO also was instrumental in the donation of six ventilators in two districts.

More than 3,500 masks were distributed in five districts of Tamil Nadu namely Thiruvallur, Kanchipuram, Chengalpattu, Thirunelveli, and Tenkasi.

These masks were prepared by tailoring students of a community college. The organization wishes to conduct more relief works for which it welcomes donations.
