Southern Railway focuses on cleanliness, launches a drive

Cleanliness is the mantra right now for Southern Railway. Fortnight long cleanliness drive has also been launched which signifies the above point. ‘Swachhta Pakhwara,’ the cleanliness drive has been launched on 16 September and will go upto 30 September.

This drive is in addition to the month-long campaign, ‘Swachhta Hi Seva’  which is upto 2 October which focuses on removal of plastic waste from Railway premises. Sources from railways point out that various activities will be taken up during the two weeks as a part of the drive.

The schedule of the two-week long drive is Day 1  (16/09/2019,   cleanliness awareness), Day 2 and 3 (17/09/2019 and 18/09/2019, cleanliness seminars), Day 4 and  5 (19/09/2019 and 20/09/2019, clean stations), Day 6 and 7 (21/09/2019 and 22/09/2019, clean trains), Day 8 (23/09/2019, clean work places/colonies), Day 9 and 10  (24/09/2019 and 25/09/2019, catering/vending services), Day 11 and 12 (26/09/2019 and 27/09/2019, clean water), Day 13 (28/09/2019, clean toilets), Day 14 (29/09/2019, cleanliness competition) and Day 15 (30/09/2019,  review of activities).     

               
Headquarter and divisions of Southern Railway will co-ordinate with NGOs, volunteers, corporate, Scouts and Guides, Schools and colleges, railway employees and other stake holders in conducting various intensive Cleanliness drives.

Shramdhan, awareness rallys, skits, exhibitions, tree plantation drives will be conducted at railway stations, premises, trains, Offices and railway colonies. While Southern Railway is conducting the drive for cleanliness, it also requests passengers to lend a helping hand in keeping cleanliness over the railway premises by resorting to practises like avoiding single use plastic for the journey.
