The Commonwealth Wealth medalist Pardeep Singh is the first Indian who is found guilty of using HGH (Human Growth Hormone ).

He was tested positive for the same in March, but the officials didn’t declare this out as the second test was not conducted which was delayed due to the lockdown. NADA (National Anti-doping Agency) was waiting for the lockdown to over and get the reports of the Second Test before declaring the matter publicly.

First from India to get a silver medal in weightlifting in 2018 Commonwealth Games, and made history, but the point of sorrow is this history was made in the wrong way.

Pardeep Singh tested positive for HGH, following this the commonwealth silver medalist and a railway employee was banned for four years.

Director of NADA, Navin Agarwal showcased his sorrow for this happening and said “This was the first time an Indian athlete has tested positive for HGH. Information regarding his failed test had been given to Singh in March itself, however, it was kept out of public domain until Tuesday, in compliance with the laid down procedure, which grants an option of B-sample testing, which got delayed because of the Covid-19 pandemic.”

He further added “This is the first instance of detecting this in a blood sample from the time NADA has started testing, We had informed the concerned federation and the weightlifter in March just before the lockdown. Because of the B sample issue, whether they wanted to do it or not, we could not disclose it publicly immediately.”

A sample of the 102Kg was taken last December surprisingly at NIS (National Institute of Sports), Patiala, and was sent to the Delhi-based National Dope test laboratory.
