The oldest regiment of Indian Army gets a boost

POP witnesses attestation of 400 recruits

It is known as one of the oldest regiments of Indian Army, its historical legacy is no less popular either. Known to all as Madras Regiment, soldiers of this unit have proved their mettle at various points of time.
Moment became special for the oldest regiment on 22 December when its passing out parade was held at historical Shrinagesh Barracks, 400 recruits were attested into it during the passing out parade. 
Things were not that easy for those who joined the oldest regiment. They had to undergo a tough training of 46 weeks that left no stone unturned in turning the cadets into able soldiers.
The dreams of these young men to serve their motherland came true as they wore olive green and marched past the prestigious enclosed drill square.
Attestation parade was reviewed by Brigadier Pankaj P Rao, Commandant, Military Hospital, Wellington. The role of instructors got a pat from the commandant. The high standard shown by the cadets during the drill, brings into limelight the efforts of instructors in moulding them.
Madras Regiment has been maintaining high standards of training, he reminded. Parents of the soldiers also received a pat from the senior military official. Their (parents) role is crucial when it comes to moulding youngsters into able citizens of the country.
