NEET and JEE Mains date changed, to be held in September

There is good news for aspirants of JEE Mains and NEET UG. The dates for these two popular exams have been revised once again. Now they will be conducted in the month of September.

This announcement has brought in a lot of cheer for the students and their parents. Students are happy as they have got enough time to prepare for the exam.

On the other hand, parents are also happy as they feel their children will not run the risk of contracting coronavirus in their attempts to write the exam.

NEET UG will be held on 13 September while JEE Mains will be conducted from 1 to 6 of the same month. The reason behind this postponement is the rise in coronavirus cases.

Union Minister of Human Resource Development Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank also made an announcement regarding the postponement of 2020 NEET UG JEE Mains on his Twitter account.

‘Keeping in mind the safety of students and to ensure quality education we have decided to postpone JEE and NEET examinations. JEE Main examination will be held between 1st to 6th September, JEE Advanced will be held on 27th Sept and NEET examination will be held on 13th September.’

The one mentioned above is the message of Union Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank.

It is more than three months ago that the entire nation came under the influence of coronavirus and its spread began across all major locations in this country.

Lockdown was imposed to curb the outbreak of the virus, the result was that affairs came to a standstill across the nation.

Things refused to move ahead on the economic arena and while everything came to a standstill on the academic front.

A whole lot of exams got postponed and NEET UG JEE Mains was not an exemption. This year is really a different one with regard to education as things did not move as per the plan.

NEET UG JEE Mains should have been conducted by now. But the coronavirus had led to their postponement.

Sources say, both the tests had been postponed two times since the outbreak of coronavirus. JEE Main was actually scheduled between 7 and 11 April, NEET UG was to be conducted on 3 May. This did not happen.

Union Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank announced the new dates for 2020 NEET UG JEE Mains.

It was on 5 May that the new dates for 2020 NEET UG JEE Mains came out during a webinar. Union HRD Minister said that JEE Mains would be held between 18 to 23 July and NEET will be conducted on 26 July.

Even CBSE board exams for pending papers were fixed in July. However, they were canceled. From then on speculation about conducting 2020 NEET UG JEE Mains reached its peak.

M.R. Raghavan, a chemistry lecturer in a private college said the situation is not yet conducive to conduct the exam taking into account the fact that the cases of coronavirus have been on the rise.

Also, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has decided that the JEE Main 2020 will now be held from 1 to 6 September 2020 from 9.00 AM to 12.00 noon in the first shift and from 3.00 PM to 06.00 PM in the second shift.

Candidates can also note that the facility for correction in the Candidate Particulars in the Online Application Form including Choice of Centre Cities will be made operational on the website jeemain.nta.nic.in from 4 to 15 July.

The candidates are advised to visit the website and verify their particulars and make necessary corrections wherever required.

Corrections in the particulars in the Online Application Forms shall be accepted up to 05.00 PM and submission of fee up to 11.50 PM.

In case if there is a payment involved for making corrections they can be paid through online banking, debit card, credit card, UPI, and PayTM.
